Topeka native Angela Cervantes to creator junior novel for “Encanto”

4 years back, Topeka indigenous Angela Cervantes wrote the junior novel published to accompany the Disney/Pixar blockbuster film “Coco.”

Now Cervantes has been preferred to write the junior novel for the upcoming Disney motion picture, “Encanto.” 

Disney is scheduling a Nov. 24 release of that movie, a computer-animated musical comedy established in the South American region of Colombia.

The junior novel is established to come out Oct. 12, Cervantes stated.

She reported she feels honored to be aspect of a story that celebrates the rich tradition of Colombia.

Cervantes lives at Shawnee in Johnson County and writes children’s fiction total-time, usually visiting classrooms to hook up with her center college-aged readers.

Her most recent assignment continues her history of composing books that feature strong Hispanic characters.

Cervantes said Mexican culture “swirled close to me all the time” as she grew up in northeast Topeka’s Oakland neighborhood and attended Our Woman of Guadalupe Elementary University.

When she was in the fifth quality, Cervantes said, she understood Mexican-Us residents were not mentioned in the publications she was receiving from the college library.
